If you're looking to keep all of your project files stored in a specific location, or running low on space on your computer's main hard drive, Descript allows you to change the location of your offline media so you can keep your files organized.
Getting Started
To begin, open the Descript App Preferences page:
- MacOS: Click Descript > Preferences or Command + Comma
- Windows: Click File > Preferences or Control + Comma
Under the section "Offline storage location" click the Change location button. A popup dialog will appear letting you know that changing the location will delete your current offline files and sign you out of the application.
Click the Select location button to choose the folder location you would like to set for your Descript "accounts" folder moving forward.
At this point, you will be automatically logged out of the Descript application and your current local downloads will be deleted. Click the Sign in to Descript button to re-authenticate into the app, and your account data will be re-located to the location you specified.
Now, each time you open a project your media files will begin to automatically sync back from the cloud. Once complete, you'll be all set to continue working!
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if my storage location is offline, or missing?
In the event that the drive location is offline or the specified storage folder is inaccessible, Descript will pop up a notification window. You will have the opportunity to either:
- Retry - This will re-attempt to connect to the drive / folder location you have specified.
- Reset location to default - This will reset the location of offline files back to the main system hard drive location. You will again be logged out and asked to Sign in to Descript.
