Descript allows you to easily adjust the video settings of a given Composition, depending upon your publishing needs. Say for example, if you want to publish a lower resolution audiogram in addition to your landscape main video. Maybe you're looking for a portrait-style version for TikTok.
Managing your composition's video properties
To view the video properties of your Composition, move your mouse over the Video preview pane and click the small black Video Settings button located in the top right-hand corner (this button is hidden until you mouse-over the preview pane):
From here, you can control your Composition's:
- Orientation (Landscape, Portrait, Square, Custom)
- Resolution (720p, 1080p, 1440p, 4K)
- Frame Rate or FPS (23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, 60)
Composition settings changes don't affect source video
Changing the parameters in the Video Settings section will update the parameters for the video in your current composition, but will not alter the source file's properties (as seen in the Project Files folder
Please note that some of these settings can be changed upon export as well. For more information on video exports, see our Exporting Video article
