Descript's Parametric Equalizer (EQ) allows you to visualize adjust frequency ranges of your audio. It gives you precision EQ capabilities that can help your audio tracks fit better together sonically, change their tonal quality, or remove any problematic frequencies from a recording. This is one of the many audio effects found in Descript that can help you take your productions to the next level!

Effect Overview
Our Parametric EQ offers a great deal of flexibility and customization for adjusting your audio's frequency balance. The effect is a 5-band Parametric EQ. A band is the range of frequency you are adjusting with the EQ.
Tip: You do not need to use all 5 bands every time. You have the ability to enable/disable the bands needed for your specific track.
Presets
If you are new to using EQ or want to quickly apply EQ, the Parametric EQ provide and array of presets to choose from:
- Warmth / Boomy
- Muddy / Fullness
- Boxy
- Depth / Body
- Attack / Punch / Nasally
- Presence
- Hashness
- Airiness
- Golden Gate
- Fireside Chat
To choose a preset, click the "Select Preset" dropdown selector in the Track Inspector.
Tip: you can access the Presets dropdown menu from inside the parametric EQ's window; it is located in the top right corner of the EQ's popup window
Manually Adjusting Effects Settings
You can also manually adjust your settings by clicking on the Show Advanced button to the right of the preset selector:
Below is a brief overview of each of these settings:
- Main Frequency (Freq.) - the center frequency of a band
- Gain - Increases/decreases the decibel (dB) level of the band's frequency range
- Width - the overall frequency range affected by a band
With these parameters, you can alter the balance of a track's frequency range and improve the clarity of your project. There are two ways you can adjust bands:

Once finished you can adjust the overall output Gain as well.
