Downloading files to your computer and then reuploading them into Descript is tedious and error-prone. Edit in Descript eliminates this process and streamlines your workflow to help you create your content quicker. This article covers how to get your Captivate episodes in Descript using the Edit in Descript integration.
Using Edit in Descript with Captivate
In order to take advantage of this feature in Descript, you need to be a Captivate user with a recorded episode ready for import.
1. Navigate to your Episodes Screen on your Captivate Dashboard and click the Edit Icon for the episode you want to import into Descript.
2. Select Edit In Descript on the right side of the screen. This will open the next browser page.
3. Sign in to your Descript account or sign up for a Descript account to continue. You will see the Import Page.
The Import Page will show you the Captivate episode you are importing and allow you to set the Drive location of your new project and transcription language for the episode you are importing
Setting up your new project
Set the Drive location of your new project, select the transcription language, and click Create Project and Import Files. A prompt will appear to open Descript or download the application.
Click Open Descript or Download the Descript app to open your Descript project.
Re-opening the Import Page
Now that your project has been created, if you try re-opening the Import Page via the corresponding link, you will be prompted to open your newly created project.
Your Captivate episode will begin importing and you can monitor the progress from inside your project.
Once it’s done, you can start editing your episode in Descript!
Round Trip Experience
You can publish an episode directly to Captivate from Descript. When you import a Captivate episode using Edit in Descript, your project will retain the Captivate episode ID; you’ll have the option to replace the original Captivate episode you imported. It’s great for fixing editorial mistakes or adding new content without creating a new episode.
